Check this video for more information on computer drive hard sony vaio:
Since there are no available manuals/information showing the location of the primary hard drive and/or how to replace it on these type model computers, I took the liberty to make a video in order to assist others with similar problems. The hard drive in this computer crashed and needed replacement and before I disassembled it myself, I went nuts looking for any information on the web for instructions and found absolutely nothing. Instead, I found that so many others were having similar problems – needing to know where the primary drive is located and how to replace it. I’ve even tried searching YouTube and was unsuccessful for this particular model so I hope this helps. Any questions, please let me know! Ram

Hello Mark, it seems like there’s a lot of people looking to change hard drives for these model computers. Since there are no disassembly manuals for these various models, you would have to take the same steps as I did for the model I was working on myself. Sony forces owners of these models to send them in for even the slightest upgrade or repair. If you haven’t done this before, please be extremely careful. If you were near, I wouldn’t mind changing it for you.
Mark, I apologize it took me a while to respond. If you read my latest comment, you’ll understand why. However, to answer your question, I wasn’t able to locate any disassembly manuals for your model. Unfotunately, you might have to take the same steps as I did with the model I was working on. They make it very difficult to change/upgrade anything on these models and force you to send it into Sony for repairs/upgrades, etc. I apologize I wasn’t able to fully satisfy your question.
Check your BIOS settings and see if the hard drive is recognized. But if you’re receiving a message that no hard drive is found, then it could possibly mean the hard drive is faulty. I would purchase a new drive, making sure it’s compatible with your model (i.e. IDE or SATA), and test it. If it’s found, that’s great but you would need to reinstall the operating system, etc. If the drive is still not found, then there’s another hardware related problem that would require further troubleshooting.
Unfortunately, I haven’t taken apart your particular model. However, I’m almost sure you would have to take the same steps I did for the model I was working on. I know it’s frustrating, you search the internet, Sony’s website and other possible sources and there’s just no luck in finding any information at all. Should I come across any such manuals regarding your model, I would be sure to get back to you with it. I know that if I had your computer here, I wouldn’t stop until it’s done!
Hello everyone. I sincerely apologize that I haven’t responded to your comments/questions. Unfortunately, my father is a hospice patient and has been having extreme difficulty with his various terminal conditions and myself and my family have been going through a great deal of stress and all the other emotions which naturally accompany that. He is presently in ICU at the local hospital here in Secaucus, NJ. Therefore, I’m not ignoring the comments/questions and will be back very soon. Sorry!
Thank you for having this video. Can you tell me where the nvidia chip is located? I know it’s in the motherboard but I am attempting this on my own due to financial distress bi am handy and have the right tools. Sony wouldn’t tell me. I took a look inside but it was not on the surface that I could see, wondered if it was underneath. Pls respond!,
Hi Ram, I have a sony vaio model pcg-2f3p and I need to change the hard drive please help.
my email is mark.whitehead39@gmail.com…..Thanks for your help
Thanks for the great video.
I was wondering if you have taken apart a Sony Vaio JS1? I cannot find a dissasembly manual anywhere and thought it might have a similar layout to this one as it is also an all-in-one.
Hi Ram. I have a Sony also, and would you know it, there is something wrong with it. It says that no hard drive is found. It cannot go to start menu or anything. I guess the primary drive is done with. I suppose I will have to replace it, correct? Will any drive work? Also, I’m not a computer genius, so will I also have to buy a windows software or is that on my back up disk? Great video also. VGC-LT35E is mine. Thanks.
also, I am having the same issue with the hard drive, what type of hard drive I need to replace it with and is there any way for me to recover data from my other hard drive
what screw driver do you need
Thanks for the fast reply. The model is SVL241190X
Hey Mark, your message came in as SPAM, not sure why, but I took care of that. In any case, can you please give me the exact model number located, I believe on the bottom of the screen (not on the back of the PC). Thanks.
Is there anyway you can do this for the new L24 VAIO all in one PC? I want to replace the HDD with a SSD but I can’t find any pictures, videos, or documents ANYWHERE explaining where the hard drive is inside the casing.
